| Borders Group has
selected Informatica
PowerCenter data-integration software to create a more personal,
individualized shopping experience for its Internet and in-store
customers.
Borders Group is expected to use the technology to consolidate
customer-related information from multiple databases across the company
for analysis. The company plans to leverage its centralized
`"customer intelligence'' warehouse to better understand its
customers on an individual level, using the information it receives
voluntarily from customers to build profiles that help customize the
shopping experience around customers' particular interests.
"The ability to gain insight into our customers across all
retail sales channels, including our Borders Books and Music
superstores, Waldenbooks stores and Borders.com site, will be
instrumental in establishing one-to-one communications that help foster
stronger, long-term relationships with our customers,'' said Greg
Josefowicz, president and CEO of Borders Group. "Our customer
intelligence project represents an important technology initiative for
Borders Group, one in which Informatica will play a central role."
Informatica's PowerCenter is an enterprise data-integration hub that
enables organizations to transform data from a variety of sources into
reliable information for strategic business analysis.
