| Lids Corporation unveiled 14 Internet kiosks at locations
across Massachusetts, California, Georgia, Oregon and Washington this
week. Lids' new e-Centers provide customers access to a virtual
inventory of over 50,000 hats. Hats ordered through the high-speed
Internet connections at the e-Centers will be shipped out within 24
hours to customer's homes or, starting in September, any Lids store
across the country. The company plans to rollout a total of 125
e-Centers by mid- September. There are currently 12 in operation.
Lids expects that 750,000 hats alone will come from combined sales at
lids.com and the new e-Centers.
For those customers too young to apply for a credit card or who do
not have access to one, Lids offers the Lids Card, which serves as a
pre-paid debit card that can be "recharged'' as needed and used for
both online and offline purchases.
The Lids "HeadFirst" loyalty program, with 1.5 million
members and representation in all 50 states, is the fastest growing club
of its kind in the industry and grows by 100,000 members each month.
Lids has approximately 388 stores in 47 states. The company's web
site, lids.com, offers one of the
widest assortments of hats available on the Internet.
Lids is also a supporter of Caps For Kids, a nonprofit organization
dedicated to giving young cancer patients hats autographed by celebrity
athletes and entertainers.
