| SmarterKids.com,
a leading online education store and resource for parents, has launched
a comprehensive online test prep center on the
Web, providing parents with essential standardized testing information
for all 50 states.
The TestPrep Center fits neatly into a strategy for online retailing
I call Commerce Cubed (C3),
which emphasizes the importance of developing rich content and a sense
of community for a successful eRetail site.
The new TestPrep Center features easy-to-use tools,
timely information, and will soon offer a forum where parents can ask
SmarterKids.com's assessment experts questions about standardized
testing.
In the TestHelp section, parents can gather information
regarding when their state's standardized tests will take place and what
subjects will be tested. Linking merchandising to testing,
SmarterKids.com is encouraging parents to enter their child's test scores to
get personalized product recommendations to help their child improve
specific skills in preparation for upcoming testing.
"Testing is a fact of life, and providing moms and dads the
educational information and products they need in a highly personalized
format is what SmarterKids.com is known for,'' said Al Noyes, executive
vice president of sales and marketing. "SmarterKids.com's TestPrep
Center offers extensive resources that have been compiled based on the
input of parents and analysis of the materials previously available. The
Center has tremendous appeal to parents who are involved in their
children's education, and complements the Grade Expectation! guide we
launched in March 2000.''
A nation-wide CARAVAN survey* among parents with children ages 7 to
15 enrolled in public school revealed that while most parents understand
the importance of standardized testing, many parents are confused about
the details. Through the TestPrep Center, parents
can gather information on testing and educational services, seek advice
on how to help children prepare for state-wide exams, and obtain product
recommendations for skill building purposes. Parents can also find
specific suggestions regarding how to prepare for the tests and what to
do after the test results arrive in the mail.
The information in the TestPrep Center was complied by
SmarterKids.com's team of on-staff teachers who collected and edited
testing information from the Department of Education in all 50 states.
