BlueLight.com sales over the long Thanksgiving weekend were up

Overall sales on the site were up 45% over the same weekend last year

Traffic to the site remained flat to last year

Top categories were Home Electronics, Toys, Home Entertainment and Martha Stewart Everyday

Top products included Nintendo Game Cube, Sony Playstation 2, Game Boy Advance, Grinch & Shrek videos/DVD, DVD Players, Nokia Cell Phones, American Flags, Leap Frog's Leap Pad and Martha Stewart Everyday

The increase in sales on flat traffic was achieved with no special promotions or free shipping offers, instead BlueLight.com focused marketing efforts on Kmart's BlueLight Everyday Low Price strategy, keeping low prices across the site on all products

The 45% increase in sales exceeds BlueLight.com's original forecast of a 10% to 20% increase over last year's holiday sales

Traffic remaining flat compared to last year is actually good news considering the slowing in the general economy and the vast number of online shopping newbies from last year, who apparently returned again this year. It is also a positive sign that those newbies from last year are now very familiar with the online shopping process and landscape and are consequently spending more.
