| GE Global eXchange Services (GE), a business-to-business
Internet commerce company, will partner with 7thOnline, a provider of
web-based merchandising technology and services for the fashion
industry, to offer a complete fashion retail service. The new online
service is expected to enable retailers and vendors to streamline their
overall buying, selling and merchandising operations.
The jointly developed service from 7thOnline and GE Global eXchange
Services (GXS) is intended to enable vendors to create secure online
showrooms that are accessed by retailers to shop, buy, and merchandise
online. Vendors and retailers will be able to exchange business
documents (such as purchase orders) through the service as well as
bar-coded product information. The service will help retailers and
vendors increase communication efficiency and reduce operational
expenses compared with the current manual merchandising process.

service must provide retailers and vendors with the ability to process
transactions quickly, efficiently, and accurately,'' said Chaim

most cost-effective manner.''
Combining the capabilities of GXS's hosted e-commerce services with
7thOnline's Web-based merchandising technology, the new service will
assist customers in smoothly integrating their existing internal systems
with the service's suite of collaborative solutions. The service will
support electronic data interchange (EDI), extensible markup language
(XML) and other online transaction formats. The service will also allow
vendors and retailers to access GXS's centralized online catalog of
Universal Product Code (UPC) and European Article Number (EAN) product
information. The GXS catalog currently maintains coded information for
nearly 60 million items.
