(NASDAQ:SKDS), an online education store and
resource for parents, and Homeroom.com, a web-based educational tool
designed to improve students' overall academic performance, have
announced a strategic alliance. Under the terms of the agreement,
SmarterKids.com will provide Homeroom.com, a division of Princeton
Review, access to specific products aligned to Homeroom's
standards specific database of skills.
For the first time, Homeroom.com will provide its users with
e-commerce functionality enabling them to purchase education products on
the Web via SmarterKids.com's proprietary product mapping technology and
Homeroom's skill database. Homeroom.com assesses children's strengths
and weaknesses on skills specific to their textbook, grade, state and
standardized test, then suggests targeted resources to enhance or
remediate a child's skills. Homeroom users will now be able purchase
SmarterKids.com's teacher reviewed and recommended merchandise based on
the child's skill level.
For SmarterKids.com, the alliance provides the company access to the
Homeroom community of students, parents, teachers, and administrators
seeking tools to help improve student achievement.
"SmarterKids.com's success is largely based on our ability to
identify the best products for an individual child's needs," said
Al Noyes, Chief Operating Officer of SmarterKids.com. "This
alliance with Homeroom.com allows us to expand upon our personalization
capability and helps provide SmarterKids.com's unique e-commerce
functionality to Homeroom.com's customer base. Our shared goal is to
help parents take an active role in their child's education."
"As always, Homeroom's commitment is to provide the entire
educational community- students, parents and teachers, with the best
possible resources to improve learning," said John Katzman, Chief
Executive Officer of The Princeton Review. "By partnering with
SmarterKids.com, we are able to significantly add to our capabilities
and enhance the Homeroom experience for our users."
