| Tomax RETAIL.net and Oracle E-Business Suite supports
stores, ERP, and retail/CRM
Tomax Corporation and Oracle Corporation (Nasdaq: ORCL)
announced a combined offering based on Tomax' RETAIL.net and the Oracle
E-Business Suite modules targeted at retailers.
Based on an alliance agreement reached last July and marketing and
development collaboration recently completed, Tomax and Oracle have
teamed to create a solution that lets retailers achieve "retail-in-realtime."
This term describes the use of Web-based applications and technology
that create a realtime infrastructure for managing retail operations and
integrating customer channels.
"This is the future of retail," said Matt Mosman, senior
vice president at Oracle and member of the Tomax board of directors.
"Retailers can now enjoy a realtime IT infrastructure, supported by
the Oracle E-Business Suite and underlying Oracle technologies. We go
beyond clicks and bricks integration to offer a formula for competitive
advantage, better customer service and more streamlined
operations."
Tomax and Oracle have devised guidelines that prescribe the software
components required to create a total solution based on the size of the
retailer and the nature and requirements of its operation. These
components are drawn from the Tomax RETAIL.net and Oracle E-Business
Suite of applications, and are supported by the Oracle Internet
platform.
These solutions address retailer requirements across the supply
chain, including customer-facing applications for point-of-sale, kiosk,
and online shopping; in-store applications for inventory, receiving,
ordering and store management; headquarters applications for merchandise
management, operations, financials, logistics, call center and analysis;
and supply chain integration solutions, including B2B exchanges.
As a result of development collaboration, the Tomax and Oracle
applications are designed to work together and support the advanced,
messaging-based integration that is required to manage realtime
applications management. This cohesion allows retailers to create an
online, integrated retail environment that supports point-of-sale,
kiosk, and online shopping applications that are consistent and
connected. The result is a single view of the customer and enhanced
customer service and convenience resulting in more loyalty, retention,
and greater sales per customer.
In addition, the combined offering can help lower IT infrastructure
costs by displacing costly and complex client/server and proprietary
hardware and software with Web-based browser applications, both in the
store and across the retail enterprise.
Tomax and Oracle offer the retailer a choice of data center,
implementation, and connectivity partners to create the appropriate
solution environment and service level required. This flexibility can
help lower overall IT costs even further, and more importantly, can help
accelerate implementation timeframes, depending on the solution
selected.
Tomax customers include; Franklin Covey, Gateway, Kroger, Safeway,
Snyders Drug Stores, TJ Maxx/Marshalls, WH Smith, and 24 Fitness.
