Commission Junction revises its merchant agreement for affiliate management

Affiliate marketing is a proven marketing tool for online retailing. Many eRetailers utilize the services of one of the affiliate service providers listed in RetailTekWeb. One of these providers, Commission Junction, has recently revised its merchant agreement to put in place a minimum monthly service fee for low volume merchants.

The new $250 minimum fee per month will not impact eRetailers with high sales volumes through affiliates, as they are likely to be paying more than $250 in fees each month already. A retailer paying out a typical 10% commissions to its affiliates, will need to be selling more than $12,500 worth of merchandise through its affiliate channel to avoid paying more each month under the new agreement.

This move is likely to bring a tighter focus to CJ merchants, possibly driving many of the smaller merchants to alternative services such as Microsoft's ClickTrade and PlugInGo.
