| eBay Inc. (Nasdaq:
EBAY); (www.ebay.com), the leading online auction
business, has launched new trading web sites for users in Ireland, New
Zealand and Switzerland. The new sites are part of eBay's strategy to
leverage common languages and cultures in order to enter new
international markets more quickly and efficiently with minimal
investment in technology. The new sites can be found directly at www.ebayireland.com, www.ebay.co.nz and www.ebay.ch or through links on the other
eBay sites worldwide.
eBay is using the
functionality of its existing European and U.S. web sites to create the
new sites, which will bring a number of new benefits to eBay users in
Ireland, New Zealand and Switzerland. Users can now find locally listed
items and other users who share the same language and culture. The
improved local access is expected make browsing and buying more
convenient. Shipping will also be easier without the need to cross
national borders. Although trading online will be done in currencies
currently available on eBay, users can finalize payments amongst
themselves in any currency they choose.
