| eBillit has signed an agreement with Kmart's (NYSE:KM) BlueLight Unlimited Internet Service (ISP).
Through the agreement, eBillit will provide billing and collections
infrastructure to broaden payment options for BlueLight Unlimited ISP
customers. The BlueLight Unlimited Internet Service is one of the
lowest-priced unlimited ISP's in the country at just $8.95 per month.
eBillit provides back-end solutions to support a complete range of
services, including simple and secure alternatives to paying by credit
card for digital goods and services. In addition to the benefit of
alternate payment methods, eBillit offers BlueLight Unlimited ISP
customers a seamless registration process and customer management
services.
Alternate payment methods
According to a survey conducted by Kmart's BlueLight Unlimited ISP
(July, 2001), 45% of users polled cited monthly payment via their phone
bill as the preferred alternative to paying by credit card. Through its
agreement with eBillit, BlueLight now offers customers a variety
of payment options including the choice to be billed directly on their
local phone bill, via their credit card or automatic monthly deductions
from their checking or savings account.
By adding eBillit's suite of services, the BlueLight Unlimited ISP
enhances customer experience with its Validation and Fraud Control
System, offering customers a seamless and secure registration process
that makes registration quick and easy.
eBillit cites old studies showing that while only 66% of U.S.
households have a credit card (U.S. Census Bureau, 1998), less than 16%
of consumers feel comfortable using a credit card online (Wall Street
Journal/BAIGlobal Inc., 7/00). According to Les Riedl of the
Atlanta-based consultancy Speer and Associates, Credit is the most
popular form of payment on the Internet today because consumers aren't
aware of other secure options. Show consumers a bulletproof alternative
and then offer more payment options and the volume will grow.
