| The drop-by personal visit is a highly effective way of staying in-touch with your contacts. You should visit your A+ contacts every couple of months, your A contacts once a quarter and your B contacts twice a year. Your visit is most effective when you bring with you a small gift item. It need not be expensive and it can tie into the season. You can also get creative with a note tied to the gift. For example, in the Spring you might drop by with a packet of "forget-me-not" seeds and gardening gloves tied together in a bow. You can put a self-adhesive label on the seeds with your name and phone number and a simple message like "I'll never forget the referrals you send me". Plan on visiting one or two of your your A+ clients each day as you drive around your area. If they aren't at home, you can leave your gift on the doorstep with a hand-written personal note saying you just dropped by to say hi and to let them know you were thinking off them. If the contact is at home, be sure to keep your visit brief (no more than a couple of minutes). If they invite you in you can advise them you have an appointment you are on your way to so you can't stop. (This helps to prevent you spending the whole day chatting and ensures your contacts will not hide from you the next time they see you coming down the path). |
